Root Memorial Square Park is a 1.5-acre green space located in the heart of Houston’s Midtown neighborhood, originally established in 1907 as a public gathering place and named for Harris County pioneer Peter J. Root. While historically a traditional park, it underwent significant revitalization in the early 2000s, becoming a prominent outdoor performance venue.

Distinctively, Root Memorial Square Park features a permanent, covered stage – relatively rare for Houston’s park venues – allowing for consistent hosting of concerts and events regardless of weather. It's particularly known for showcasing diverse musical genres including blues, jazz, Latin, and contemporary indie/rock acts; frequently hosting free concerts through the Miller Outdoor Theatre’s “Park Views” series and other community initiatives.
