Experience Olympiahalle München

Olympiahalle München, built for the 1972 Summer Olympics as the basketball venue, is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Munich’s Olympic Park. Designed by architect Günter Behnisch, its distinctive tensile roof structure – a pioneering feat of engineering at the time – remains iconic. The hall's capacity ranges up to 8,000 for concerts and 12,000 for other events.

Beyond its Olympic history, Olympiahalle quickly became a central hub for music in Munich. It's renowned for exceptional acoustics, making it a favoured venue for diverse genres including rock, pop, electronic music (often hosting large-scale raves), and classical performances. Notable acts who have graced its stage include Pink Floyd (documented in their *Live at Pompeii* film’s companion album recording), The Rolling Stones, and numerous internationally acclaimed artists.

Unique features include its adaptable floor space and advanced lighting/sound systems. Unlike many arenas, it maintains a relatively intimate atmosphere despite its size. It continues to be a significant fixture in the Bavarian cultural landscape, regularly hosting major events and solidifying Munich’s reputation as a key European music destination.
