Experience Lackawanna Station
Lackawanna Station, located in Montclair, New Jersey, originally served as a passenger rail terminal for the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad, opening in 1914. Designed by architects Fellheimer & Wagner, the building exemplifies Beaux-Arts architecture, characterized by its grand scale, symmetrical design, and ornate detailing including terracotta ornamentation and arched windows. Passenger service ceased in 1985.
Redeveloped and reopened as a music venue in 2023 following extensive renovations led by developer Peter Kellogg, the space retains significant historical features while incorporating modern sound and lighting systems. The venue’s capacity is approximately 950 standing or 650 seated.
Lackawanna Station primarily hosts performances spanning genres including rock, indie, pop, and alternative music; it has also hosted events featuring jazz and blues artists. Its unique character stems from its original architectural details—high ceilings, arched doorways—combined with state-of-the-art production capabilities. The station's revival represents a key investment in Montclair’s downtown arts district and contributes to the township’s established reputation as a regional center for live music. It operates as part of Live Nation’s portfolio of venues.
