Experience Knockdown Center (June 18
The Knockdown Center, located in Maspeth, Queens, New York City, began as a metal-working factory constructed in 1920. Originally the Federated Automotive Parts Co., the building served industrial purposes for decades before being repurposed as a performance and event space in 2013. The venue retains much of its original industrial architecture, including high ceilings, exposed brick, and large open spaces, contributing to its distinctive atmosphere.
Known for hosting a diverse range of musical genres, The Knockdown Center frequently features experimental electronic music, indie rock, hip-hop, and performance art. It has hosted performances by artists including Animal Collective, Swans, and Protomartyr. Beyond music, the space accommodates film screenings, art installations and community events.
A unique feature is its large outdoor courtyard which is utilized for events during warmer months. The venue’s capacity is approximately 1800 people. It distinguishes itself from Manhattan venues through its larger size and more relaxed environment. The Knockdown Center has become a significant hub within the New York independent music scene offering a platform for both established and emerging artists.
