Experience Hubbard Hall - Center For The Arts And Education

Hubbard Hall, located in Cambridge, New York, is a beautifully restored 1875 Victorian opera house and a cornerstone of the region’s arts and education. Originally built as a community hall for lectures, debates, and theatrical performances, it fell into disrepair before being meticulously renovated in the 1950s by William H. Goddard and reopened as a performing arts center.

The Hall boasts remarkable original features including its ornate plasterwork, proscenium arch, and intimate 260-seat auditorium – creating exceptional acoustics highly valued by performers. Unlike larger venues, Hubbard Hall fosters a close connection between artists and audience.

Hubbard Hall presents a diverse program encompassing classical music (chamber ensembles are frequent guests), jazz, folk, Americana, theater, dance, and literary events. It’s become particularly known for its high-quality chamber music series and support of emerging artists. Beyond performances, Hubbard Hall offers educational workshops and serves as a vital community gathering space. Its historical significance lies in preserving a rare example of rural Victorian architecture *and* continuing its original purpose of providing accessible arts experiences for over 145 years.
