Experience Carroll Rehearsal Studios

Carroll Rehearsal Studios, located in the West Village of Manhattan, New York City, has been a cornerstone of the city’s music scene since 1962. Founded by Jack Carroll, a former jazz drummer, the studios initially catered to Broadway rehearsals – hence the name – and quickly became a haven for musicians across genres. Housed within a converted warehouse at 348 West 14th Street, its unassuming exterior belies the history within its soundproofed walls.

Over decades, Carroll Studios has hosted rehearsals and early performances for iconic artists including Blondie, The Ramones, Talking Heads, and countless others pivotal to punk, new wave, jazz, and rock development. It wasn't a performance *venue* in the traditional sense but a vital proving ground.

Unlike polished concert halls, Carroll offers raw, flexible rehearsal spaces – ranging in size – equipped with basic backline (drums, amps) available for rent. This accessibility made it crucial for emerging bands lacking resources. Its no-frills environment fostered collaboration and experimentation.
