Experience Cardiff Utilita Arena

The Cardiff Utilita Arena, formerly known as the Cardiff International Arena (CIA), is Wales’s premier indoor arena, opening in 1993 as part of the Cardiff Bay regeneration project. Designed by architects Populous (formerly HOK Sport), its distinctive silver dome is a prominent feature of the Cardiff skyline and can hold up to 7,500 people for concerts and 5,000 for ice hockey.

Throughout its history, the arena has hosted a diverse range of events, from major music concerts – featuring artists across pop, rock, dance, and R&B including Muse, Beyoncé, and Robbie Williams – to sporting spectacles like Six Nations Home Internationals (basketball) and world championship boxing. It regularly features large-scale family shows and comedic performances.

Unique to the venue is its flexible configuration; beyond arena mode it can be adapted for conventions and exhibitions. The arena played a key role in hosting events during the UEFA Champions League final in 2017 and the NATO Summit in 2014. Its central location within Cardiff Bay makes it easily accessible via public transport and offers extensive parking facilities.
