Experience Calle 8
Calle 8, formally known as Ball & Chain, is a historic Miami venue deeply rooted in the city’s Cuban culture and vibrant music scene. Originally a saloon dating back to 1935, it gained prominence in the 1950s and 60s as a hotspot for Latin entertainment, attracting legendary figures like Count Basie, Billie Holiday, and Sammy Davis Jr. Following Fidel Castro’s revolution, it became a crucial gathering place for Cuban exiles and musicians.
The venue features distinctive Art Deco architecture, reflecting Little Havana's aesthetic. While undergoing periods of closure and renovation, it was revitalized in 2014 and continues to showcase live Latin music – primarily Salsa, Son Cubano, and Afro-Cuban Jazz – nightly.
Unlike many modern venues, Ball & Chain maintains an open-air courtyard setting fostering an intimate atmosphere. It's renowned for its strong ties to the local Cuban community and its role in preserving traditional Cuban music forms. Beyond music, it offers a full bar with classic Cuban cocktails and a menu featuring authentic cuisine. The continuous live performances and cultural significance make it a unique landmark within Miami’s entertainment landscape.
