Experience Aula Magna

Aula Magna, located on the Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain) campus in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, is a prominent concert and event hall inaugurated in 1975. Designed by architect Paul Felix, it’s renowned for its striking Brutalist architecture – a concrete structure intentionally designed to integrate with the surrounding landscape. The hall’s primary function is as an auditorium for university ceremonies, but it’s widely used as a major performance venue.

Its acoustics are particularly noteworthy, making it ideal for classical music, jazz, and world music performances; it also hosts larger-scale pop and rock concerts. Aula Magna boasts a capacity of over 600 seated attendees and features a substantial stage capable of accommodating large orchestras and ensembles.

Historically, the venue has hosted numerous internationally acclaimed artists and serves as a key location for the Festival de Wallonie Musique chamber music festival. Unlike many venues prioritizing ornate decoration, Aula Magna’s aesthetic focuses on functional design and sound quality.
