Yo La Tengo is an American indie rock band formed in Hoboken, New Jersey in 1984. The Bowery Ballroom, located in Manhattan’s East Village, New York City, opened in 1998. Originally constructed as a German beer hall in 1873 and later operating as a television repair shop, the space was renovated into a music venue by Michael Swier and Scott Weisenbrot. It quickly became a prominent fixture in the independent music scene, celebrated for its intimate atmosphere and excellent acoustics.
