Nézet-Séguin is renowned for his dynamic and emotionally expressive interpretations, often characterized by a meticulous attention to orchestral detail and a strong collaborative spirit with musicians. He is currently Music Director of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Metropolitan Opera, as well as Chief Conductor of the Orchestre Métropolitain de Montréal.
Carnegie Hall opened in 1891, commissioned by Andrew Carnegie. It quickly established itself as a preeminent concert venue and has hosted nearly every leading musician of the past century and beyond. Originally known as the Music Hall, its acoustics are highly regarded and have been subject to ongoing preservation efforts. The building itself is a landmark example of Beaux-Arts architecture. Throughout its history, Carnegie Hall has been central to the development of American musical life, evolving from a space primarily for classical music to encompass jazz, popular music, and other genres while maintaining its core identity as a premier destination for serious musical performance. It remains a non-profit institution dedicated to artistic excellence.
