Wilco, an American alternative rock band formed in 1994, will be performing at the Capitol Theatre in Wheeling, West Virginia on July 15, 2026. The band’s sound is characterized by a blend of alternative country, art rock, and experimental elements, evolving significantly throughout their career from their alt-country roots to incorporating more diverse instrumentation and sonic textures. The Capitol Theatre originally opened in 1926 as a movie palace and vaudeville house. Designed in the atmospheric style by architects Lippert & Waters, it quickly became a prominent entertainment venue in the Ohio Valley region. Throughout its history, the theatre hosted a wide array of performances including film screenings, live music, and theatrical productions.

Following a period of decline and closure in the late 20th century, the Capitol Theatre underwent extensive renovations completed in 2014. These restorations aimed to return the theatre to its original grandeur while modernizing facilities for contemporary performances. Today it operates as a performing arts center hosting concerts, comedy shows, and other events; maintaining its status as a historical landmark and cultural hub for Wheeling.
