Vogtland Philharmonie Greiz/Reichenbach is a German orchestra with roots stretching back to the 19th century, evolving from various regional musical societies. Their repertoire broadly encompasses classical and romantic works, alongside contemporary compositions, frequently featuring composers associated with the Vogtland region and Thuringia. The orchestra is known for its commitment to both established masterpieces and lesser-known works, aiming to present a diverse musical experience.
The concert will take place at the Residenz in Munich. Officially known as the Münchner Residenz, it served as the royal palace of the Wittelsbach monarchs of Bavaria for over seven centuries, from 1255 to 1918. Throughout its history, the Residenz was continually expanded and renovated, resulting in a complex of buildings representing various architectural styles including Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and Neoclassical.
The Residenz isn’t a single structure but encompasses ten courtyards and numerous halls and chambers. It functioned not only as a residence but also as the center of Bavarian governmental power and cultural life.
