Valentin Silvestrov, a prominent Ukrainian composer born in 1937, is known for his distinctive neo-Romantic style. His music often evokes a sense of nostalgia and timelessness, drawing inspiration from late Romanticism and early 20th-century modernism while simultaneously rejecting the strictures of Socialist Realism prevalent during much of his career in the Soviet Union. The concert will be held at Oude Blasiuskerk in Delden, Netherlands on August 23, 2026. This historic church dates back to the 13th century, with its origins stemming from a chapel dedicated to Saint Blaise. Significant alterations occurred in the 15th and 17th centuries, resulting in its current Gothic Revival appearance following a major restoration in 1881-1883 led by architect Johannes Franciscus van Dijk. The church features a prominent tower and serves as an important landmark within Delden.
