The Woodruff Arts Center serves as the home of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Atlanta Opera, and the High Museum of Art, among other cultural institutions. Originally opened in 1968 as the Memorial Arts Center, it was renamed in 1989 to honor Robert W. Woodruff, a prominent Atlanta businessman and philanthropist whose contributions were instrumental in its establishment.
