Tortoise, a Chicago-based instrumental band, will perform at the Upper Merion Township Building in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania on June 26, 2026. The group is recognized for its pioneering role in post-rock music, blending elements of jazz, dub, electronica, and minimalism. Formed in 1990, Tortoise avoids traditional rock structures, often prioritizing texture, atmosphere and extended compositions over conventional song formats. They are known for their use of vibraphone, guitars, bass, drums and electronic instruments to create complex and immersive soundscapes.

The Upper Merion Township Building serves as the municipal hall for Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County. Completed in 2023, the building replaced a previous structure dating back to the 1970s. Its design incorporates modern architectural features with an emphasis on community space and accessibility. The building includes a large multipurpose room intended for public events and gatherings alongside standard township administrative offices.
