Tortoise, the Chicago-based instrumental band, is scheduled to perform at the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay in Singapore on August 31, 2026. The group is recognized for its pioneering role in post-rock, blending elements of jazz, dub, electronica, and minimalist composition. Their sound often features repetitive structures, intricate rhythms, and a focus on texture over traditional song forms. Formed in 1990, Tortoise has released numerous critically acclaimed albums and consistently toured internationally.

The Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay is a performing arts centre located in Marina Bay, Singapore. Officially opened in October 2002, it was designed by Michael Wilford and Partners and stands as a prominent landmark in the city-state. The complex comprises a Concert Hall seating approximately 1,600 people, a Theatre with a capacity of around 1,900, the smaller Recital Studio, and an outdoor theatre space. It aims to showcase a diverse range of artistic disciplines including music, dance, theatre and visual arts.
