Experience Tommy Emmanuel live on August 14th
Tommy Emmanuel, an Australian guitarist renowned for his complex percussive style, will be performing at the Capitol Theatre in Wheeling, West Virginia on August 14, 2026. His music blends elements of jazz, blues, folk, rockabilly and classical guitar, often featuring simultaneous bass lines, melodies, and percussive rhythms created solely through his guitar playing. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest acoustic guitarists of our time and has influenced many musicians across genres.
The Capitol Theatre originally opened in 1926 as a lavish movie palace and vaudeville house. Designed by architects Lippert & Waters, it showcased ornate architectural details typical of the era including Italian Renaissance design influences and a grand interior. Throughout its history, the theatre hosted numerous prominent performers and events. Following a period of decline and closure in the late 20th century, a significant restoration project was completed in 2007 returning the venue to its former glory. The restored Capitol Theatre now functions primarily as a performing arts center hosting concerts, theatrical productions and other live events while maintaining much of its original architectural character. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
