Experience Tinariwen live on September 10th

Tinariwen is scheduled to perform at Park Theatre in Winnipeg, Manitoba on September 10, 2026. The group is a collective of Tuareg musicians from the Sahara Desert region of Mali. Their music blends traditional Tuareg musical styles with elements of electric guitar, creating a sound often described as “desert blues” or “ishumar” music. Lyrics frequently address themes of nomadic life, political struggle, and cultural identity. Formed in the late 1970s in Libyan refugee camps, Tinariwen gained international recognition in the early 2000s and have since released several critically acclaimed albums.

Park Theatre originally opened in 1931 as a cinema, showcasing films throughout the mid-20th century. Over time it transitioned into a live performance venue, becoming a significant hub for music and arts within Winnipeg’s West Broadway neighbourhood. The theatre underwent extensive renovations in 2018 which preserved its art deco architectural features while upgrading technical capabilities and accessibility. It is currently operated by the non-profit organization Park Theatre Inc., dedicated to presenting diverse programming including concerts, theatre productions and film screenings.
