Violinist Timothy Ridout will perform at St Luke’s Church in London on July 2nd, 2026. Ridout is recognised for his compelling interpretations of both standard repertoire and lesser-known works, frequently performing solo Bach and demonstrating a particular affinity for Romantic and 20th/21st-century compositions. His playing is often described as possessing a rich tone and technical brilliance coupled with emotional depth. He has gained international recognition through awards such as the International Violin Competition ‘Yehudi Menuhin’ in 2018 and the Boretti-Bartoli Prize in 2019.
St Luke’s Church, located in the Finsbury area, has a complex history. Originally built as a parish church in 1733, it was designed by Nicholas Hawksmoor, a prominent architect known for his work on several London churches. Severely damaged during the Blitz in World War II, the church was partially rebuilt but never fully restored to its original form.
From the 1950s until recently, the shell of St Luke’s served as a performance space primarily for classical music, gaining a reputation for its unique acoustic properties despite lacking a roof for many years.
