Thüringer Symphoniker Saalfeld-Rudolstadt is a professional orchestra with a broad repertoire encompassing classical and romantic works, alongside contemporary compositions and occasional crossover projects. The ensemble maintains a focus on serving the Thuringian region through regular concert series and educational initiatives, frequently collaborating with regional artists.
The concert on September 5th, 2026 will be held within the Schlosskapelle (Castle Chapel) of Saalfeld/Saale. This chapel represents a significant example of Baroque architecture in Thuringia, constructed between 1688 and 1702 under the direction of Gottfried Heinrich Krohne for Duke Christian II of Saxe-Saalfeld. Originally designed as a Lutheran court chapel, its interior features ornate stucco work, gallery seating, and historically significant organ building by Johann Friedrich Wender.
The Schlosskapelle underwent extensive restoration in the 20th and 21st centuries to preserve its architectural integrity and acoustic properties. It is now utilized not only for religious services but also as a venue for chamber music concerts and other cultural events, capitalizing on its unique atmosphere and historical importance within the Saalfeld residence complex.
