Thüringer Symphoniker Saalfeld-Rudolstadt is a professional orchestra rooted in a tradition of Central German orchestral music, frequently performing works from the Baroque through Romantic periods, alongside contemporary compositions. The ensemble is known for its versatility, undertaking projects spanning symphonic repertoire, opera collaborations, and chamber music performances.

The concert on September 4th, 2026 will take place within the Schlosskapelle (Castle Chapel) of Saalfeld/Saale. This chapel holds significant historical importance as a prime example of Baroque architecture in Thuringia. Constructed between 1688 and 1703 under the direction of Gottfried Heinrich Krohne, it replaced an earlier Gothic chapel. The interior features elaborate stucco work created by Italian artisans, depicting biblical scenes and heraldic symbols related to the House of Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst who commissioned its construction.

The Schlosskapelle’s acoustics are noted for their resonance and intimacy, making it a favoured venue for chamber and smaller orchestral performances. Throughout its history, the chapel served not only as a place of worship but also as a representative space for courtly ceremonies and musical events within the Saalfeld residency.
