The Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra will perform at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium on April 24, 2027. The orchestra is a professional ensemble dedicated to providing orchestral music experiences to Northwestern Ontario. Its repertoire spans a broad range, encompassing classical masterworks from various periods – Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20th/21st century – alongside contemporary compositions and arrangements, often incorporating Canadian composers and themes. The Thunder Bay Community Auditorium opened in 1981, serving as a significant cultural and entertainment hub for the region. Designed by architect Arthur Weisel, it is notable for its acoustics and capacity of approximately 1,500 seats. Beyond hosting musical performances like those of the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra, the auditorium regularly accommodates touring theatrical productions, dance performances, comedy shows, and large-scale conventions. It underwent significant renovations in the early 2020s to upgrade facilities and enhance accessibility. The building stands as a landmark venue within the city of Thunder Bay and contributes substantially to its artistic landscape.
