Alexis Bailly Vineyard is one of Minnesota’s oldest wineries, established in 1858 by Jean-Baptiste Bailly, a French-Canadian fur trader who married into the Dakota Nation. The vineyard initially produced wine for sacramental purposes and local consumption. It experienced periods of dormancy throughout its history, including during Prohibition.

In the late 20th century, the vineyard was revitalized and began focusing on estate-grown cold-climate varietals such as Marquette, Frontenac, and La Crescent. The site itself features rolling hills and picturesque views overlooking the Mississippi River Valley. It continues to operate as a family-owned winery offering tours and tastings alongside hosting occasional events like concerts.
