The Philharmonic Brass will perform at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury, United Kingdom on December 7, 2026. The ensemble is a professional British brass ensemble known for its dynamic and versatile performances spanning a broad repertoire. Their style incorporates both traditional brass band arrangements and original compositions, often featuring classical transcriptions alongside jazz and contemporary pieces. They are recognised for technically demanding performances and engaging stage presence.
The Marlowe Theatre itself opened in 2011, replacing the previous theatre on the same site which had served Canterbury since 1959. The original Marlowe Theatre was built on the foundations of earlier theatrical venues dating back to the medieval period, acknowledging Canterbury’s long history with performing arts. The current building is a modern, architecturally significant structure designed by Keith Williams Architects, incorporating elements reflecting the city’s historic character. It functions as a regional hub for theatre, dance, opera, music and other live performance events and boasts a main auditorium seating approximately 1,200 people alongside smaller studio spaces for more intimate productions and community engagement work. It is owned and managed by Canterbury City Council.
