The Carnegie Library of Homestead itself holds significant historical importance. Originally dedicated in 1898 by Andrew Carnegie, it was intended as a public library and recreational hub for the workers of the nearby Carnegie Steel Company’s Homestead plant. Beyond books, the building initially housed a music hall, swimming pool, gymnasium and various meeting rooms – designed to provide educational and cultural opportunities for the community. The music hall, where The Phantom Blues Band will perform, is noted for its excellent acoustics and ornate architectural details reflective of the late Victorian era.
