The New Pornographers will be performing at the Golden State Theatre in Monterey County, California on September 15, 2026. The New Pornographers are a Canadian indie rock band, known for their energetic power-pop sound characterized by complex arrangements, dual male/female vocal leads (Carl Newman and Kathryn Calder, among others), and lyrical wit. Formed in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1999, they’ve released eight studio albums to date, gaining recognition for blending catchy melodies with sophisticated instrumentation.

The Golden State Theatre originally opened in 1926 as a Vaudeville house and cinema. Throughout its history it operated primarily as a movie theatre, showcasing films for the local community. Following a period of decline and closure in the early 2000s, the theatre underwent extensive renovations completed in 2014. These renovations restored many of its original architectural features while updating it to function as a modern performing arts venue. It now hosts a variety of events including concerts, comedy shows, and film screenings. The theatre has a seating capacity of approximately 450 people and is located in downtown Monterey.
