Experience The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra live on September 2nd
The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra will perform at the Philharmonie de Paris on September 2, 2026. This ensemble is renowned for its performances supporting the Metropolitan Opera’s staged productions, and as a concert orchestra in its own right. Its musical style is deeply rooted in the Romantic and 20th/21st-century operatic repertoire, frequently showcasing large-scale orchestral works and demanding technical precision from its musicians. While primarily associated with opera, the orchestra also undertakes symphonic concerts featuring pieces central to the orchestral canon.
The Philharmonie de Paris, inaugurated in January 2015, is a modern concert hall complex situated in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. Designed by architect Jean Nouvel, it is notable for its acoustics and innovative architectural features, including a modular concert hall – the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez – capable of adapting to different performance configurations. The complex comprises two further halls: the Salle Philharmonie intended for smaller ensembles and the Amphithéâtre. It serves as a major venue for classical music performance and education, hosting both French and international orchestras and ensembles. The Philharmonie de Paris aims to be a national institution dedicated to promoting musical discovery and accessibility.
