The Messthetics will perform at Mass MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts on June 27, 2026. The Messthetics are a Washington D.C.-based instrumental trio comprised of guitarist Alex Toth, bassist Melissa Runyon, and drummer Clyde Grubbs. Their music is generally described as a post-hardcore influenced instrumental rock, drawing from elements of free improvisation, jazz, and noise rock. They are known for complex arrangements, angular melodies, and a dynamic interplay between the musicians, often creating a sound that is both challenging and compelling. The band has released albums on the Constellation Records label.

Mass MoCA (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art) is one of the largest centers for contemporary visual art and performing arts in the United States. Located in a renovated 19th-century factory complex—formerly the Sprague Electric Company—the museum opened to the public in 1999. Its expansive spaces are integral to its artistic presentation, often allowing for large-scale installations and performances.
