The theatre’s architecture showcases Spanish Colonial Revival style, featuring ornate detailing and a distinctive marquee. Following periods of decline and closure, the theatre underwent extensive restoration completed in 2021. This restoration aimed to return the theatre to its original grandeur while updating it with modern amenities. Today, the Historic Plaza Theatre functions as a multi-purpose venue hosting concerts, theatrical productions, film screenings and community events. It is recognized for its historical significance and contribution to the cultural landscape of Palm Springs and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
