Experience The John Martyn Project live on September 17th

The John Martyn Project will be performing at Lighthouse, Poole on September 17, 2026. The John Martyn Project is a band dedicated to recreating the sound and spirit of the late, influential singer-songwriter John Martyn. Their performances focus on faithfully interpreting his extensive catalogue, known for its innovative guitar work – often utilising open tunings and incorporating early use of effects pedals – coupled with soulful vocals and lyrical depth. The music blends folk, jazz, blues and ambient elements, creating a distinctive and atmospheric soundscape.

Lighthouse, Poole, opened in 1990 and functions as a multi-purpose arts centre. It hosts a diverse programme including theatre, dance, music, film and visual arts exhibitions. The building itself features a main theatre space with a capacity of approximately 560 seats, alongside smaller studio spaces used for more intimate performances and community activities. It is operated by BCP Council and serves as a significant cultural venue for the Poole area and wider Dorset region. The venue underwent a substantial refurbishment completed in 2023 which included improvements to accessibility and technical facilities.
