Vallée aux Loups – literally “Valley of the Wolves” – is a historic estate with origins dating back to the 17th century. It gained significant cultural importance during the early 19th century as the residence of François-René de Chateaubriand, a prominent French writer and intellectual considered a founder of French Romanticism. Chateaubriand lived there intermittently between 1809 and 1848, and the estate served as a gathering place for literary figures of the time.
