The Cat Empire will perform at the Sydney Opera House on August 28, 2026. The band is known for its energetic and genre-bending music, often described as a fusion of jazz, ska, funk, Latin rhythms, and world music influences. Formed in Melbourne in 1996, they are recognized for their lively stage presence and dynamic instrumentation featuring horns, percussion, and dual vocalists.

The Sydney Opera House, a UNESCO World Heritage site completed in 1973 after 14 years of construction, is renowned for its distinctive sail-like design created by architect Jørn Utzon. It stands on Bennelong Point in Sydney Harbour and is a multi-venue performing arts centre. Originally conceived to host a wider range of performances than initially planned – including orchestral concerts, opera, ballet, drama and contemporary performances – its acoustics have undergone significant refinement over the years. The Concert Hall, where The Cat Empire will perform, is the largest venue within the complex and is specifically designed for symphonic music but frequently hosts diverse acts. The building’s exterior is clad in over one million Swedish-made tiles and remains an iconic symbol of both Sydney and Australia.
