The Church of the Intercession, located in Manhattan’s Washington Heights neighborhood, is an Episcopal church completed in 1939. Designed in the Gothic Revival style by architect Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue, it is built on the site of Trinity Church Cemetery, established in 1842. Notably, Clement Clarke Moore, author of “A Visit from St. Nicholas” (commonly known as “’Twas the Night Before Christmas”), is buried within the adjacent cemetery. The church is distinguished by its massive scale and intricate stone carvings depicting biblical scenes and figures.
