Handelsbeurs (meaning “Stock Exchange” in Dutch) is a historically significant building in Antwerp’s city center. Originally constructed between 1531 and 1537 during the height of Antwerp’s prominence as a major European trading hub, it served as a center for commerce and finance for over three centuries. The building showcases a blend of Renaissance architectural styles. Following periods of decline and repurposing – including use as a café and a dance hall – Handelsbeurs underwent extensive restoration in the 1980s. Today it functions primarily as a concert and event venue, prized for its acoustics and historical atmosphere.
