Nikolaus Studnitzky, a contemporary composer known for his spectral music and works exploring microtonality and extended instrumental techniques, will perform at St. Augustin in Ingolstadt, Germany on November 6th, 2026. Studnitzky’s compositions often feature dense textures, subtle harmonic shifts, and a focus on the timbral qualities of instruments, frequently pushing the boundaries of traditional orchestral sound. He has received commissions from prominent ensembles and orchestras internationally.
St. Augustin is a late Gothic hall church in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, originally built as a collegiate church by Louis IX, Duke of Bavaria, between 1478 and 1503. Dedicated to Saint Augustine of Hippo, it served as the burial place for members of the Wittelsbach dynasty. The church underwent significant Baroque alterations in the 18th century, including interior decoration by Johann Georg Fischer.
During the secularization of Bavaria in 1806, St. Augustin was repurposed as a storage facility and later as an armory.
