Sting is scheduled to perform at the Arenes de Nîmes in Nîmes, France on July 6, 2026. Sting’s musical style blends elements of new wave, soft rock, and jazz, evolving from his time as the frontman and principal songwriter for The Police in the late 1970s and early 1980s. His solo work incorporates influences from various genres including reggae, classical music, and world music, often characterized by sophisticated songwriting and lyrical depth.

The Arenes de Nîmes is a well-preserved Roman amphitheater dating back to the 1st century AD. Originally built during the reign of Emperor Augustus, it could accommodate over 20,000 spectators and was used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles. Following a period of disuse after the 5th century, it served various purposes throughout history including housing and a fortress.

In the 19th century, architect Charles Lencez began its restoration.
