Steven Bernstein is scheduled to perform at Tanglewood in Lenox, Massachusetts on August 16, 2026. Bernstein is a trumpeter, composer, and arranger known for his eclectic musical style often described as “multiphonic” or blending jazz, klezmer, Balkan music, and avant-garde elements. He frequently utilizes historical American music – particularly from the early 20th century – as a foundation for improvisation and re-imagining. His work often features unusual instrumental combinations and a playful approach to genre boundaries. He leads several ensembles including the Hot 97 Orkestra and Spanish Fly.

Tanglewood is the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO). Established in 1937 through a gift of land from Filene’s department store founders, it has become one of the leading music festivals in the United States. The venue’s open-air Shed provides a renowned acoustic experience, while the grounds also host performances on various stages including Ozawa Hall. Beyond orchestral performances, Tanglewood regularly presents concerts spanning pop, rock, jazz and world music genres.
