Spanish Harlem Orchestra will be performing at Went Field in Bridgeport, Connecticut on August 9, 2026. The ensemble is recognized for its dedication to preserving and performing traditional salsa dura, a style characterized by its complex arrangements, powerful horn sections, and improvisational energy rooted in the New York City salsa scene of the 1970s. Founded by pianist Ricky González in 2000, the orchestra aims to recapture the vibrant sound of iconic salsa bands like Tito Puente and Celia Cruz.

Went Field is a multi-purpose athletic facility located within Bridgeport’s East Side neighborhood. Originally constructed in 1936 as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project during the Great Depression, it primarily served as a baseball stadium for many years, hosting amateur and semi-professional teams. Over time, Went Field has been renovated and adapted to accommodate a variety of events beyond baseball, including concerts and community gatherings. It remains an important recreational space for local residents and represents a significant piece of Bridgeport's history. The field underwent substantial upgrades in recent years to improve its functionality for diverse uses.
