Experience Söndörgő live on September 26th
Söndörgő, a Hungarian band, will perform at Malzhaus in Plauen, Germany on September 26, 2026. The ensemble is known for its distinctive blend of traditional Hungarian folk music with influences from Balkan, jazz, and world music styles. Their instrumentation typically features instruments like the cimbalom (hammered dulcimer), guitar, bass guitar, and percussion, creating a dynamic and energetic sound often characterized by complex rhythms and virtuosic playing. Söndörgő has been active since 1984, evolving from a focus on researching and reviving regional folk tunes to composing original material rooted in these traditions.
Malzhaus Plauen functions as a cultural center housed within a former malt house – hence its name – dating back to the late 19th century. Originally part of the Buschbeck brewery complex, it underwent extensive renovation in the 1990s to transform it into a venue for concerts, theatre performances, exhibitions and other cultural events. The building retains architectural elements reflecting its industrial past alongside modern adaptations for performance spaces.
