The Smithereens are scheduled to perform at The Plaza Live in Orlando, Florida on July 18, 2026. The band is recognized for their power pop sound, often incorporating elements of garage rock, alternative rock, and 1960s British Invasion influences. Formed in New Jersey in 1980, they gained prominence throughout the 1980s and 1990s with hits like “Blood and Roses” and “A Different Girl.” Their music frequently features distinctive guitar work and Pat DiNizio’s vocals.

The Plaza Live, originally built in 1923, has a history rooted in vaudeville and film exhibition. Initially known as the Orlando Paramount Theatre, it operated as a movie palace during the mid-20th century. Later renamed the Beacham Theatre, it transitioned into a concert venue hosting diverse acts. In 2018 it was rebranded as The Plaza Live following extensive renovations aimed at preserving its historic architecture while upgrading its capabilities for live performances. The venue maintains many of its original architectural details including ornate plasterwork and a grand lobby.
