Sinfonietta Cracovia, a Polish chamber orchestra with roots tracing back to 1909, will perform at Opera Bałtycka in Gdańsk on July 6, 2026. The ensemble is known for its versatile repertoire spanning from baroque and classical works to contemporary compositions, frequently focusing on interpretations of Polish music alongside international masters. They are recognized for their historically informed performance practice and a dynamic approach to orchestral sound, often collaborating with artists across various genres.

Opera Bałtycka, situated in Gdańsk, has a complex history reflecting the region’s turbulent past. Established in 1939 as the Stadttheater Danzig during the Free City period, it continued operating under Nazi occupation. Post-war, it was rebuilt and renamed as Opera Morska (Maritime Opera) in 1945, becoming a significant cultural institution for the newly Polish Gdańsk. The name changed to Opera Bałtycka (Baltic Opera) in 1990. The theatre building itself underwent substantial modernization between 2017-2019, retaining its original architectural character while upgrading technical facilities.
