Sinfonieorchester Basel will perform at Theater Basel on December 5, 2026. Theater Basel itself holds a significant place in Swiss cultural history. Formed in 1997 through the merger of the Stadttheater Basel (founded 1832) and the Theatermuseum Basel, it operates as a tri-venue institution encompassing drama, opera/operetta, and ballet. The main building, designed by architects Buser, Curtis & Balz in 1959-1960, replaced earlier theatre structures on the same site and represents a notable example of post-war modernist architecture.

The Theater complex includes the Grosses Haus (Main Stage), the Kleine Haus (Small Stage) dedicated primarily to drama and smaller-scale opera/ballet productions, and the Lokremise – a former railway repair shop converted into a flexible performance space.
