Experience Simon Zhu live on November 21st
Simon Zhu will perform at the Residenz in Munich, Germany on November 21, 2026. Zhu is a Chinese-German conductor known for his energetic and technically proficient interpretations of both standard orchestral repertoire and contemporary works. His style often emphasizes clarity and dramatic intensity, frequently drawing comparisons to conductors of earlier generations while maintaining a distinctly modern approach. He has gained recognition for his work with major orchestras internationally, and is increasingly noted for broadening orchestral programming to include lesser-known composers.
The Residenz, meaning “residence” in German, serves as the former royal palace of the Wittelsbach monarchs of Bavaria. Its history stretches back to the 13th century, though most of the current structure dates from the 16th to 19th centuries. Throughout its history it was expanded and remodeled by successive rulers, showcasing various architectural styles including Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and Neoclassical.
Today, the Residenz is a museum complex encompassing ten courtyards, several museums and lavishly decorated state rooms.
