Simon-Pierre Bestion, a French composer and organist, will present a concert at the Philharmonie de Paris on March 31, 2027. Bestion’s musical style is characterized by a contemporary approach to organ music, often incorporating elements of spectralism, improvisation, and exploring extended techniques on the instrument. His compositions frequently engage with themes of space, light, and perception, pushing the boundaries of traditional organ repertoire while maintaining a strong connection to its historical roots. He is known for his innovative use of digital technologies in conjunction with the pipe organ.
The Philharmonie de Paris is a modern concert hall complex inaugurated in January 2015. Located in the Parc de la Villette in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, it serves as the primary venue for the Orchestre de Paris and hosts a diverse range of classical music performances, as well as contemporary and world music events. Designed by architect Jean Nouvel, the complex comprises two main halls: the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez – known for its adjustable acoustics – and a smaller, more intimate chamber music hall. The building also includes exhibition spaces, educational facilities and a public garden.
