Shining, a Swedish musical collective originally formed in 1996, will be performing at O2 Institute2 Birmingham on November 10, 2026. The group’s sound is broadly categorized as avant-garde metal, evolving significantly over their career. Initially rooted in black metal, Shining has incorporated elements of jazz, industrial music, and classical composition into their work, often characterized by complex arrangements, dynamic shifts in tempo and mood, and philosophical lyrical themes. Jhonny Hedberg remains the sole consistent member and driving force behind the project.

O2 Institute2 Birmingham is a mid-sized venue located within the wider O2 Academy Birmingham complex on Bristol Street. Originally opening as a Meux & Co. brewery in 1903, the building was later repurposed as a cinema – The Essoldo – in 1938. It transitioned to become a live music venue known as The Powerhouse in the 1990s before being rebranded under the O2 Academy umbrella. The venue is known for hosting both established and emerging artists across various genres, with a capacity of approximately 850 people.
