The Walker Theatre originally opened in 1910 as the Bijou Theatre, a vaudeville house. It underwent a significant renovation and reopening in 1986 following a period of disrepair, being renamed to honor former Chattanooga mayor Pat Walker. The theatre is recognized for its ornate interior featuring Beaux-Arts architectural details and a proscenium arch stage. It functions as a multi-purpose performing arts venue hosting concerts, theatrical productions, film screenings and other live events. The Walker Theatre is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, acknowledging its cultural significance to the region. It currently operates as part of the Chattanooga Performing Arts Center.
