The Paramount Theater opened in 1930 as a grand movie palace designed by architect Tab Taber. Originally built as part of the Intermountain Theatres chain, it showcased both films and live vaudeville acts during its early years. After periods of decline and disuse in the latter half of the 20th century, the theater underwent extensive restoration completed in 1986. It now functions primarily as a performing arts venue hosting concerts, Broadway shows, comedy performances, and other events. The Paramount Theater is recognized as a significant example of Art Deco architecture and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
