Goodyear Theater originally opened in 1937 as a movie palace and vaudeville venue. Designed in the Art Deco style by architect Raymond Fisher, it was a significant entertainment hub for Akron residents for several decades. After a period of decline and closure in the 1980s, the theater underwent substantial renovations completed in 2007. These renovations restored many of its original architectural features while updating its technical capabilities. Today, Goodyear Theater functions as a multi-purpose venue hosting concerts, performances, and community events; it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places recognizing its cultural significance.
