Opened in 2018 by Carol Sudhalter and John Feffer, the venue is named in honor of Milton “Mezz” Mezzrow, a prominent white jazz clarinetist and advocate who championed Black musicians during the segregation era. The space intentionally maintains an atmosphere reminiscent of classic Village jazz clubs, prioritizing acoustic sound and focused listening.
